IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR FOURTH YEAR STUDENTS

NRMP - Make sure you are registered for the 2008 Match if you plan to participate. It is very important to note that if you have registered for the 2008 Match and decide that you're not going to participate this year, you must contact Judy Holewa and request to be removed from the 2008 Match. If you fail to do so, remain registered, and do not put in a rank list, it will appear as though you have gone Unmatched. This will result in inaccurate statistics for The Medical School.
RANKING OF PROGRAMS: Opens- Jan 15, 2008 (noon) and Closes January 31, 2007 (9:00 pm-EST): R3 [the program you enter your rank list into] opens. You can access R3 through the NRMP website at: http://www.nrmp.org/ .
DEADLINE FOR REGISTERING FOR THE MATCH LIST (WITHOUT LATE FEE): February 27, 2008
MONDAY, MARCH 17, 2008 @ 12:00 noon:
Applicants can check the NRMP website to determine if they have Matched.
The Office of Student Affairs will be provided the names of all UMass students who are unmatched and will immediatley make every effort to contact them through their UMass pager or e-mail (we'll contact you by other means if you provided us other contact information). Very few students at UMass go unmatched, but it can happen for a variety of reasons. If you are notified that you have not matched, we will assist you in working through the "scramble" to find a residency position. The "scramble" is the process that is used to find open residency positions still available for those unmatched students. We have a large number of experienced faculty and staff who are ready and willing to work with you in securing a residency training program during this "scramble" period.
Tuesday, March 18, 2007: The list of filled and unfilled positions are released. The scramble begins at 12:00 for all unfilled positions.
Thursday, March 20, 2008 - MATCH DAY -- Festivities will begin around 10:00 a.m. in the Faculty Conference Room.
The envelopes will begin to be handed out promptly at 12:00 noon. Family and friends are invited to this event. Please bring $1.00 with you -- we'll explain more about this at Match Day.
Members of the Yearbook Committee will be available between 10:00 -11:30 on this day to assist you with laying out your information for the yearbook. This will be the last day you'll be able to work on this page. Copies of previous year's yearbooks are available in the Library if you'd like to get some ideas on what other graduates have done.
Have you signed up for ACLS? If not, contact Kathy Alvarez ASAP (508) 856-2285 or e-mail her.
GRADUATION QUESTIONNAIRE: We strongly encourage all graduating seniors to complete the AAMC Graduation Questionnaire. The good news is this is probably the last on-line questionnaire you'll ever have to fill out for UMass. The information you provide in this questionnaire has far reaching implications for us that may including future funding opportunities, so please take the time to answer all the questions as honestly as you can. You can access the Graduation Questionnaire at http://www.aamc.org/gq
CERTIFICATION FOR GRADUATION: May 27 -May 30, 2008: The Registrar's Office will be sending you more information about this, but in the meantime this is when the Registrar's Office will "certify" that all your graduation requirements have been met. Not only will they verify your academic record, but they verify that all your administrative responsibilities have been completed as well [ie: all parking tickets and outstanding balances have been paid, your pager is returned, ACLS is complete, Graduation Questionnaire is done, etc.
