Prerequisites: 4th year medical student
Elective Description: The student will function as an intern on the Surgical Oncology service. He/she will be expected to round on the inpatients, write daily progress notes, attend the multidisciplinary GI and Breast conferences weekly and at least one clinic session per week and assist at surgery - all under the immediate direction of the chief and senior residents on the Surgical Oncology service. The student will also participate as a reviewer in the weekly journal club and read the articles assigned for this service. At the discretion of the student and after discussion with Dr. Lambert, the student may elect to choose an experience more heavily weighted towards GI surgical oncology or towards breast surgical oncology.
