Elective Description: This elective will expose students to the interactions between the psychiatric and legal systems, emphasizing the impact of the law on psychiatric/medical practice and the role of psychiatry in the legal process. Students will participate in forensic evaluations (e.g. competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, dangerousness, etc. ) as part of the Forensic Service, and will attend the regular conferences of the nationally renowned Law and Psychiatry Program at UMMS under the direction of Dr. Thomas Grisso.
