Elective Description: The Psychiatric Treatment Center (PTC) provides acute care for public sector patients who commonly also have limited resources and complex psychosocial situations. The student will further develop skills in the acute evaluation and treatment of psychiatric patients and in comprehensive case formulation and community-based treatment planning. Students will increase their understanding of psychopharmacology, focused short-term therapies, group therapies, psychoeducation, family and system interventions, and dual diagnosis treatments (mental health and substance abuse). |
