Preference given to students pursuing a 'career' in ER.  Contact Kerri O'Keefe regarding spots in May - August.

Prerequisites:Successful completion of all 3rd year cllerkships and be in good standing.
Elective Description: The student will experience a variety of urgent patient care situations in a level 1 Trauma Center.  There are 18-20 shifts during 1 month rotation and the student makes his/her own schedule.  He/She will be able to interact directly with ED Attendings and Senior Residents.  Students will be given full access to patients eliciting history and performing physical exams and then discussing the case to form and implement a patient care plan.  Opportunity to perform procedures exists as well as ride along time with the city’s 911 ambulance service and didactic conferences, including weekly resident lecture series for students, option to ride on the Life Flight helicopter.  Reading material is provided; no rotation examination is required.
