Resident Recruitment Program

Thank you for your interest in the University of Massachusetts Medical School's (UMMS) Resident Recruitment Program (RRP). The RRP's goal is to enhance the diversity of our residents and residency programs in order to better serve Worcester County's growing multi-cultural population. The offices of Student Affairs, Undergraduate Medical Education and Diversity and Equal Opportunity sponsor the program.

The UMMS Resident Recruitment Program is pleased to offer 4th year underrepresented medical students from Allopathic/LCME accredited schools the opportunity to participate in a four-week subsidized elective with UMass Memorial Health Care and its' affiliated hospitals. This is a great opportunity for 4th year medical students to view our residency programs first hand. We general accept three medical students into the program per year. We do require that your elective is in the specialty you are applying to for residency. A list of our Residency Programs can be found at  www.umassmed.edu/residency.aspx .

Dr. Mai-Lan Rogoff, Associate Dean for Student Affairs will provide Mentoring and career advising to students accepted into the Resident Recruitment Program. In addition, the accepted studens are given a stipend to help defray their approved elective's transportation expenses, food, and housing along with reimbursement of their $65 visiting student administrative fee.

The Resident Recruitment Program runs from July to December only.  2013 Summer and Fall Academic Elective dates are as follows:
