Ophthalmology

The Department of Ophthalmology seeks to acquaint all medical students with the diagnosis and management of diseases of the eye and with the ocular manifestations of systemic disease. Lectures are given to first- and second-year students in the anatomy and Mind, Brain, Behavior courses.

In addition, second-year students are given practical instruction in ophthalmoscopy as part of their physical diagnosis course. Third-year students study the management of common ocular disorders during their surgical clerkship. A month-long clinical elective is offered in the fourth year.
