How to Locate and Order Clones

To place an order, you will need the Gene Symbol, Clone ID and Clone Location information for your clone(s).  This information is available from the Open Biosystems website.

Step 1.   Go to the  Open Biosystems website.

Step 2.   Search for shRNAs corresponding to your gene of interest using the Gene Search tab at the top of the page (this should be the default mode).

Step 3.   You can search the database using a variety of identifiers, including Gene Symbol or GenBank Accession Number. Simply type the identifier and click "submit".  As an example, we typed in "TERT", which gave the following result: 

 

Step 4.   To view the shRNA clones available from Open Biosystems, click on the blue button that says "11 shRNAs".  This will give you:

 
 
Step 5.    Scroll down to view the available shRNAmir clones (the UMMS RNAi Core only distributes shRNAmir clones [i.e., only those contained in the vectors pSM2c and pGIPZ]; we do not distribute shRNA clones contained in the pLOK.1 vector).  Select the shRNA of interest by clicking on the Oligo ID number.

 

This will give you information pertaining to that clone.

Step 6.   Use the "Clone ID" and "Location" information to fill in the RNAi Core Lab Order Form.

Step 7.   Repeat steps 5 and 6 to get other clones for the same gene.
