Curriculum Integration

Communication and functional academics are complex activities with many behavioral prerequisites. We consider it essential, therefore, to integrate studies of perception, attention, memory, symbolic classification, sequencing, and strategic behavior -- all processes that must be considered when designing effective teaching.

To accomplish the necessary integration, our project team is interdisciplinary, with representation in behavior analysis, cognitive neuroscience, cognitive psychology, psycholinguistics, sensation and perception, and special education. Directed by William McIlvane, our staff includes Michael Carlin, Curtis Deutsch, William Dube, Debra Flusser, Joanne Kledaras, Harry Mackay,   Richard Serna, Sal Soraci, Bob Stromer, and Krista Wilkinson. We also take advantage of the increasing capabilities of microcomputer technology, in part to manage the many variables that must be considered when teaching children who need unusual support in learning.
