Instrumentation & Computer Applications

We capitalize on the Center’s expertise in scientific instrumentation (e.g., design, fabrication, trouble-shooting) and computer technology.

The following represent services of this subcomponent of the Core:

• Software Library for Behavioral Research
The IDDRC has produced an extensive library of software for behavioral research with Macintosh computers which includes a wide range of behavioral testing procedures in implementation packages designed primarily for use with individuals who have mental retardation.
• Computer programming
We provide assistance to investigators for computer implementation of experimental protocols. There are three primary avenues for this:1) configuring the Center's in-house software by means of its command language, 2) identifying commercial (or freeware/shareware) programs that are appropriate and cost-effective, or 3) identifying an appropriate programmer to write new software
• Scientific Instrumentation
Scientists who require technical support to develop, modify, and/or repair special-purpose scientific equipment may take advantage of skilled hardware and software engineers who can provide information and/or service pertinent to equipment design, development, and troubleshooting.
