Ethanol Cerebellar Pathology: Retinoids And Glycoconjugates

David Ullman

Since the project began, the following goals have been achieved: 1) an HPLC/MSn technique has been developed for the quantitative analysis of retinoids. Currently, the following goals are being pursued: 1) quantification of cerebellar retinoic acid in neonatal rats after exposure to ethanol at different time periods of development; 2) characterization of ethanol-induced changes in retinoic acid RAR and RXR receptors; 3) confirmation of preliminary data showing ethanol-induced changes in production of glycolipids potentially important in cerebellar development.
