Leadership Fellowship Program
Information & Application Materials for Prospective Fellows
Thank you for your interest in applying for a Fellowship in the Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental and Related Disabilities (LEND) Program. The program extends over a 10-month period, beginning in September 2008 and ending in June 2009. Stipends of $10, 000 are available to qualified applicants in accordance with the MCHB grant guidance.
Applicants who are interested in pursuing a Master in Health Administration (MHA) or Master in Public Administration (MPA) degree in conjunction with Suffolk University with a focus on developmental disabilities will be given preference for acceptance into the Leadership Program. Stipends of Fellows interested in pursuing a MA degree will be used to contribute to the costs of the degree unless the Fellows stipulates otherwise.
Fellows who do not wish to pursue the MHA/MPA degree are required to take the courses offered at the Shriver Center campus. They will receive stipends directly. Non-degree Fellows may take MHA courses for credit through Suffolk University at the usual cost for Suffolk course.
All applicants who are accepted as Fellows will be required to spend a minimum of Thursday afternoons and all day Friday on-site at the Shriver Center during the 10-month period. It is expected that reading and other assignments will require additional time of approximately 8-12 hours per week.
In addition to specific course work, the program requires Fellows to participate in experiential activities, including interacting with a family who has a child with a disability, or a consumer who has a disability and working on a program project designed to improve the lives of persons with disabilities and their families.
