A ceremonial Groundbreaking event for the Albert “Albie” Sherman Center was held at the UMass Worcester campus on Sept. 17, 2009. A crowd of more than 300 guests gathered to celebrate the potential of this state-of-the-art facility. Speakers included Lieutenant Governor Timothy Murray, Massachusetts Senate President Therese Murray, Worcester City Manager Michael O'Brien, and Massachusetts Life Sciences Center President Susan Windham-Bannister, among others.
