Blasting into the future
Construction at the site of the Albert Sherman Center
Date: August 5, 2010
If you’ve been at UMass Medical School in Worcester with any frequency this summer, you’ve likely seen—or felt—the progress being made on construction of the Albert Sherman Center. Nearly every weekday, two controlled blasts have been conducted at approximately 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. to remove some 20,000 cubic yards of rock to make way for the foundation and footings of the new $400-million building. This video provides a behind-the-scenes look at this stage of the project.
