Resources

The RNA Therapeutics Institute is housed in the newly built 520,000 sq ft Albert Sherman Center.  The program houses many newly purchased departmental equipment that are centrally located and available to all RTI faculty.  These equipment include: low, high and ultra speed centrifuges, Bio-Rad VersaDoc gel imaging system, GE LAS 4000 biomolecular Imager, Bio-Rad real-time PCR and PCR systems, Molecular Devices SpectraMax M5 microplate reader, Tecan Infinite M1000 Pro microplate reader, lyophilizer system, speedvac system, Agilent Bioanalyzer, Varian Cary spectrophotometer, Perkin Elmer Tricarb 2910 Liquid scintillation counter, and New Brunswick refrigerated shakers. There are also many other high end shared equipment among our faculty.  Some of which include: Accuri flow cytometer, phosphor-imagers, confocal microscope, Olympus Cell-TIRF microscope, Li-Cor Odyssey Infrared Imaging system, JanSci UVex-UV microscope, fluorescent microscopes, Covaris accoustic shearer, Microfluidics cell disruptor.  RTI also has a high-throughput macromolecular crystallization facility,  including a ARI Gryphon crystallization robot, microscopes, UV/vis microscope with automated crystallization plate reader.  A detailed list of equipments available in RTI is here sorted by equipment name or by lab.  For any questions regarding the RTI facilities please contact Hongyan Wang, Manager of Operations.

In addition to RTI-housed equipment, UMMS has a vast array of research support facilities for researchers: NMR spectroscopy (400 MHz & 600 MHz), proteomics & mass spectrometry, small molecule screening, bioinformatics, electron microscopy, flow cytometry, genotyping, human embryonic stem cell, live animal imaging, GeneChip and microarray, peptide synthesis, RNAi core, X-ray crystallography, deep sequencing, molecular modeling, tissue culture, fluorescence-activate cell sorting, transgenic animal modeling, cancer center tissue bank, molecular biology core lab, histology lab, a machine shop and more. There is also a central animal care facility set up in accordance with NIH guidelines.  All of the above resources are available to all UMMS researchers through the University Research Core Facilities.
