Electronic Grant Submission |
NIH Announces Electronic Submission of Grant Applications
All competing grant mechanisms will transition from paper receipt to electronic receipt. Please view the NIH Transition Plan for the most updated information on your grant mechanism of interest.
Investigators MUST have a Commons account in order to submit an NIH grant electronically. Please fill out this form to obtain a Commons account if you do not already have one: Commons Registration Form Once registered, you can access the Commons to get information on your submitted applications. The account creation and validation process can take up to 3 days so please do not wait until the last minute or you may miss a deadline.
Electronic Progress Reports (eSNAPs) will continue to be submitted via the NIH Commons.
Cayuse 424
is our system-to-system vendor for electronic NIH applications. All R01 applications for the 2/5/2007 deadline and beyond will be electronic and use Cayuse 424. Please contact stacy.piszcz@umassmed.edu for Cayuse account and training information.
If you are submitting electronically later in theyear, additional information and training will be announced for later submission dates, but you can get started by taking a look at the Cayuse Online Manual
Other Federal Sponsor Sites
Grants.gov is the site for most other federal sponsor grant applications.
UMMS is already registered in the CCR as an authorized organization to submit proposals in Grants.gov. Please do not attempt to register the institution again or try to obtain a new DUNS number for grant application purposes. You must use the UMMS DUNS [603847393] in order to apply for a grant via Grants.gov.
RFS must receive the complete electronic grant application package at least 2 working days prior to the deadline if RFS is the final submitter. All Grants.gov applications require RFS to be the official submitter so the final .xfd file must be emailed to either Patricia McNulty or Bethanne Giehl for submission.
The following federal sponsors require RFS to be the submitter as well:
NSF All transactions:https://www.fastlane.nsf.gov/fastlane.jsp
DOD Letters of Intent:https://cdmrp.org/Applications via:Grants.gov
HRSA Applications via :Grants.gov
Some HRSA applications require finalization via eHandbook:

The required elements and 5 working days for review and approval of administrative components have not changed for electronic submission.
