Depression

Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) Registry 

Purpose: To collect information on people with Treatment Resistant Depression (TRD) to compare how people respond to various treatments including Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) 

Please note: This research study does not provide treatment. Only information on how people are responding or not responding to treatment is collected. 

Patients must be: 

  • 18 years of age or older 
  • experiencing a Major Depressive Episode 

Patients who are: 

  • seeking VNS therapy may participate for five years (15 visits) 
  • not seeking VNS therapy may participate for five years (15 visits)

 Patients will be: 

  • asked questions about their physical and mental health, medical and psychiatric history, and quality of life 
  • compensated $50 for each completed evaluation

Memantine Augmentation (Add-On) Study 

Patients must be: 

  • at least 18 years old
  • experiencing symptoms of depression
  • taking antidepressants that have not completely relieved the depression

Patients do not have to stop taking their current medications to participate.

Anxiety

icon_new.gifGeneralized Anxiety Disorder (GAD) Study 

Purpose: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of an investigational medication for the management of Generalized Anxiety Disorder.

Patients must be: 

  • 18 years of age or older
  • experiencing symptoms of anxiety 

Patients will:

  • receive either the investigational medication or placebo.
  • receive office visits and medication are at no charge. 
  • Patient’s participation will include 7 study visits over a 13 week period. 
  • Compensation is provided.

Schizophrenia/Schizoaffective Disorder 

CAMP Study: Comparison of Antipsychotics for Metabolic Problems 

Patients must be: 

  • age 18 or older 
  • have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder 
  • currently taking only one of the following antipsychotic medications: Risperdal, Seroquel or Zyprexa 
  • have problems with weight or cholesterol 
  • Patients will be asked to give blood samples 
  • Patient’s participation will include 11 study visits over a 25 week period. 

Qualifying patients will receive financial compensation as well as antipsychotic medication and study-related evaluations at no cost.

 PSY 1005 Study for patients with Schizophrenia or Schizoaffective Disorder/

        Safety and Tolerability of 3 Month Formulation of Paliperidone Palmitate

Patients must be: 

  • age 18 or older 
  • have a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder 
  • Patients will have a complete physical exam, as well as lab tests including blood tests, urine tests, drug tests ECG (electrocardiogram) test, pregnancy test for women of childbearing age.
  • Patient’s participation will include 32 study visits in a 53 to 58 week period. -

Qualifying patients will receive financial compensation as well as study medication and study-related evaluations at no cost.
