A treatment intervention to help children, youth and their parentsovercome traumatic life events

What is Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy?

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) is an Evidence Based Practice and Empirically Supported Treatment for trauma-related symptoms in children.  TF-CBT has been recognized as a Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) Model Program - the highest rating given.  As part of our mission to disseminate best practices and to improve the trauma-related care for children and families in our region, CMCC has implemented TF-CBT in the Central Massachusetts Region who have been victims of trauma and whose trauma related symptoms are affecting their ability for youth to function at home, school or in the community.

The goal of TF-CBT is to help address the unique bio-psychosocial needs for children with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) or other problems related to traumatic life experiences, and their parents or primary caregivers.
