Clinical/Academic Geriatric Psychiatry Position Currently Available at Umass Memorial Medical Center/University of Massachusetts Medical School
The Department of Psychiatry at UMass Memorial Medical Center, in collaboration with Fallon Community Health Plan, is currently seeking a BC/BE Geriatric Psychiatrist for a a joint venture to improve geriatric mental healthcare in central Massachusetts. The chosen physician would serve as geriatric psychiatrist consultant for Fallon’s Summit Elder Care, a program of all-inclusive care for the elderly and NaviCare, Fallon’s senior care organization. This role will involve providing direct patient contact, as well as patient centered and programmatic consultation with primary care providers, mental health clinicians and other professionals involved in providing geriatric care. He or she would also have the opportunity to assist in program enhancement and development. At UMass, the individual would have the ability to get involved in a variety of related academic activities including the possibility of assisting in the development of a Geriatric Psychiatry Fellowship Program.
The ideal candidate will be a Fellowship Trained geriatric psychiatrist with at least some clinical experience, commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care, expertise in multiple treatment modalities, willingness to teach, and ability to promote evidence-based approaches to improving geriatric service delivery.

Forensic Psychologist/Faculty Position
The University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS) seeks to fill a .8 FTE (32 hours/week) position on its Forensic Evaluation Services. The Service provides forensic evaluations of competence to stand trial, criminal responsibility, civil commitment, and aid-in-sentencing. In addition, the Service provides violence risk assessment consultations to Department of Mental Health Facilities. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D./Psy.D., specialized training/experience in Forensic Psychology, and be licensed or eligible for licensure as a psychologist in Massachusetts. Palliative Care Health Psychologist
UMass Memorial Medical Center, the academic teaching hospital and clinical partner of The University of Massachusetts Medical School, is inviting applications for a Health Psychologist specializing in Palliative Care Psychology and Pain Management. This is a full time position based within the Palliative Care Service and in the Psychiatry Health Psychology Service. The position will provide clinic-based consults, outpatient therapy and possible bedside treatment. The individual will provide a broad range of health psychology interventions and existential therapy at UMass Memorial Medical Center, UMass Memorial Hospital, and the UMass Cancer Center of Excellence. The individual will also participate in multi-disciplinary palliative care treatment teams. In addition to clinical work, the position includes a focus on teaching psychology trainees, and residents in the palliative care program and the psychiatry department. It is anticipated that the position include an academic appointment to the medical school commensurate with experience. The pursuit of research activity/interests is supported and anticipated.
Requirements:
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Health Psychology/Behavioral Medicine focus) from APA accredited program with a strong understanding of psycho-social oncology and life-limiting illnesses and the psychological issues that may arise in this context
- ABPP Board certified in Clinical Health Psychology or willing to become BC when eligible
- Must have completed an APA approved clinical psychology internship
- Graduate and Post-doctoral/Fellowship Training in Health Psychology preferred
- Licensed or Lisc-Eligible in Massachusetts

The Senior Psychiatrist works in one of the MA Department of Mental Health (DMH) Areas. Health Psychology Position - UMass Memorial Medical Center, Worcester, Massachusetts

The position also provides an academic appointment to the Medical School commensurate with experience. The pursuit of research is encouraged and anticipated with departmental support for research activities and a highly successful Career Development Grant Writing Program for junior faculty.

This new position will be responsible for directing the evaluations of multiple federally and non-federally funded grant projects, building further evaluation capacity in the Department of Psychiatry and working on innovative Quality Improvement and clinical outcomes measurement projects. This would include working with faculty and community agencies to obtain external grant funding; implementing the evaluation of funded mental health services grants; working in an evaluation team; directing and supervising the staffing and performance appraisal process for personnel. The Director of Program Evaluation will work closely with the Director of the Center for Mental Health Services, Vice Chair of Clinical Services, and will report directly to the Vice Chair for Clinical Research in the Dept. of Psychiatry.
The ideal candidate will have a doctorate in psychology or a related social science field or related extensive experience in program evaluation, psychology or a related social science field with training and experience in the theory and practice of evaluation; previous mental health services research experience; successful history implementing SAMHSA or other or services grants; experience of working with community partners to assess and develop program evaluation opportunities. The candidate will demonstrate collaborative leadership style with excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.

Candidates must have strong research background and experience and interest in mentoring junior faculty. The Department has many areas of academic strength include mental health services research, public sector clinical services, primary care integration, systems of care and intensive home and community-based services, addiction, psychopharmacology, mental retardation and developmental disabilities, juvenile justice/law and psychiatry, preclinical imaging and molecular research, trauma, and sexual abuse.
Research faculty work in a variety of settings including: the University Campus, the Center for Psychopharmacological Research & Treatment, the Center for Mental Health Services Research, the Brudnick Neuropsychiatric Research Institute, the Shriver Center, and Community Mental Health Centers. Addiction Clinical/Research Post-Doctoral Fellow
UMass Department of Psychiatry seeks a full time Addiction Clinical / Research Post-Doctoral Fellow to work with senior faculty members and interdisciplinary project teams for ongoing research studies. Fellows will assist with manuscript and grant preparation, administer clinical assessment and treatment protocols to research participants, engage in organizational change studies, and be expected to apply for independent grant funding in their second year.
The addiction clinical research post doctoral fellowship is for trainees interested in developing academic research careers in the area of addiction with an emphasis on opportunities in studying co-occurring mental illness and addiction, including a focus on tobacco addiction and integrating wellness into treatment. The mission of the program is to facilitate the fellow’s transition to a successful academic research career by assisting the fellow to develop an externally funded independent program of research, and to become a collaborative and productive member of an interdisciplinary research team. Fellows with clinical career goals are able to learn how to best integrate research into clinical practice. Clinical sites available include the wide range of clinical programs in the Department of Psychiatry, as well as the Veterans Affairs setting, and various UMass Memorial Health Care settings. Fellows can provide clinical services in clinical sites depending on prior experience, and may obtain clinical supervision to meet licensing requirements.
