All services are initiated through the Facility Director. Investigators will be advised on the best experimental approach, timing of the experiment, sample preparation and charges. Samples are accepted after the project has been approved. The below submission form should accompany the samples to provide detailed information for laboratory use.

Guidelines for submitting samples for protein analysis:

Excised gel bands should be placed in 0.5 ml microcentrifuge tubes and washed with 1% formic acid in 50% ethanol for 5 minutes (discard wash).

****Keratin contamination will always be observed.
Precautions must be taken to minimize contamination****
1. Wear gloves at all times and work with a mask or shield when cutting gel bands.
2. Thoroughly wash and methanol rinse anything that will come in contact with the sample, i.e., gel apparatus, staining trays, gel excising equipment and tubes. Rinse the microcentrifuge tube and its cap with 1% formic acid in 50% ethanol before putting in the gel band.
