A MESSAGE FROM THE CHAIR AND PROGRAM DIRECTOR
We are very proud of our residency at The University of Massachusetts. The Children's Medical Center at UMass Memorial Health Care (UMMHC) is thriving with constantly enlarging faculty, new programs, and expanded clinical services. As a result, UMMHC is an exciting and challenging place for pediatric training.
The program at UMass offers:
A healthy balance of hospital, emergency, subspecialty and primary care.
Extraordinary support, guidance and teaching from an unusually dedicated faculty.
A personalized curriculum with progression to clinical and educational excellence.
- Encouragement and opportunities for domestic and international advocacy work.
Our Children's Medical Center serves as both a community hospital and as the tertiary care center for Central Massachusetts, providing residents with a blend of educational experiences. Our faculty and residents work closely together, creating a special collegial and friendly atmosphere conducive to learning.
Our residents graduate well prepared as clinicians who offer the highest quality of pediatric care and as teachers to the next generation. They are uniformly successful in securing their choice of fellowship, public health, and academic positions (60% of our graduates) and in obtaining excellent practice opportunities. The skills and attitudes they develop enable them to continue learning after they leave the program and to serve as advocates for child health in the community at large.
