The Process
With a School of Medicine, Graduate School of Nursing and Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences as well as a thriving research enterprise and a number of public service and outreach initiatives, there is never a dull moment at the University of Massachusetts Medical School and UMass Memorial Medical Center. In such a busy environment, it is all too easy for an event or an achievement to be overlooked.  With your help, we will strive to share exciting UMMS news with the local, national and international community.

Some of our most commonly used tools are the press release and media advisory. Working in consultation with you, we draft a press release as a news feature including relevant quotes and information about the research, achievement or breakthrough. The media advisory, which briefly but descriptively lists the "who, what, where and when" of your information, is a valuable tool to promote events. Other campus news and accomplishments might necessitate having us pitch your story by phone or e-mail to a select reporter or two.

How you can help
Please let us know when you're doing something interesting, if you want to be included on our Experts List or if you have other news. Someone on our staff will work with you to determine the best approach to your news.

Please remember to call us early. Timing is critical and the more time we have to prepare, the more likely we can draft a quality press release or media advisory. The more notice you provide our office, the better we can assist you.
