Carey elected student trustee by University of Massachusetts

WORCESTER, Mass. - Sherborn native Madeleine R. Carey has been elected to the Board of Trustees of the University of Massachusetts by her fellow students at the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS). The board has full oversight and decision-making responsibility for all activities of the university on all five campuses statewide. A member of the Medical School class of 2001, Carey will serve a two-year term with full voting privileges. She is one of five student trustees, each representing their respective UMass campuses.
She received her bachelor of arts degree in psychology from Yale University in 1992, then worked as a research assistant on several investigations at Harvard and Yale. Since beginning her studies at UMMS, Carey has been active in community services, including assisting at the Free Clinic and volunteering as an emergency medical technician with the Sherborn Rescue Department. She is 1998-99 president of the UMMS Student Body Committee.
Carey graduated from Dover-Sherborn High School in 1988. She is the daughter of Robert and Jocelyn Carey of Sherborn.
