New Faculty Orientation
The purpose of the new faculty orientation is to provide new faculty at all levels with an overview of the institution, assisting them in beginning a successful career at the University of Massachusetts Medical School.
Next New Faculty Orientation Event
The next New Faculty Orientation event will be August 29, 2012, 8:00am-4:00pm. Agenda and Flyer coming soon.
The goals of the New Faculty Orientation are to:
- Welcome faculty to the institution;
- Introduce new faculty to the institution, its leaders, and programs;
- Provide essential information that new faculty need to know for career advancement;
- Connect faculty with opportunities to get involved in institutional programs;
- Provide a venue for networking among faculty.
Institutional leaders present topics selected to help faculty advance in their careers at UMMS. The presentations cover a core set of information that is essential for all faculty, as well as information that is tailored to specific needs for academic advancement and professional satisfaction. The topics include:
- the organizational structure of the institution
- promotion and tenure
- annual performance review
- getting started in research
- how to get involved in teaching
- clinical practice: RVUs and CQI
- professional development
