Faculty Onboarding: Getting Started at UMMS

Welcome to the University of Massachusetts Medical School (UMMS)! We are pleased that you have selected UMMS as a place to develop and expand your professional career. The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) Faculty Onboarding Program is designed to give new faculty a successful start to their careers at UMMS. The program consists of three parts:

  • Orientation: New Faculty Orientation is offered every three months and is designed to provide information and career guidance.
  • Mentoring: New faculty are matched with a more experienced Onboarding Mentor who will guide and introduce them to the institution.
  • Resources: Each new faculty member receives a Welcome Package of information about the institution and local area; additional information is available in the Getting Started at UMMS pages of our website (see links below).

Welcome Packet

The Welcome Packet is sent to all new faculty when they accept a position at UMMS, or with our clinical partner, UMMHC. The packet contains information about programs sponsored by the Office of Faculty Affairs and other departments at UMMS, important policies and procedures, and guides to the Worcester area. Please contact the Office of Faculty Affairs if you have materials that might be included in the packet.

These pages are designed to direct you to the resources and information that are essential to your professional responsibilities at UMMS. The site also provides links to policies and procedures, institutional resources, programs for career development, and information about life at UMMS and in the Worcester area.
