Start-up & Expansion
Planning and Start-up of New CHCs
Over the past ten years, Office of Community Programs (OCP) has worked closely with numerous community health centers (CHCs) to support their creation or expansion to new locations across Massachusetts. The provision of funding during the first year of a new site’s operation enables them to get to work quickly to provide the health care services needed in the community. Recent grant recipients have used the funds for purposes such as site development or renovation, the purchase of medical equipment and supplies, and start-up salary subsidies.
CHC Start-up Assistance
OCP's team of expert staff and consultants provide a wide range of services including:
- Education on the requirements for developing a community health center
- Initial community assessment and planning to evaluate the feasibility of qualifying for federal health center designation
- Identification of potential health care resources and facilitation of partnerships
- Development of business plans and completion of applications for federal funding
- Underwriting start-up costs for items such as building renovation, asbestos removal, medical equipment purchases, and salary subsidies
