‘Discovering Architecture: A Visual Exploration of Our Built Environment’ on display through May 31

The exhibit, “Discovering Architecture: A Visual Exploration of Our Built Environment,” featuring photography by Ryan Hacker, is on display on the first floor of the library through May 31.

In the Lamar Soutter Library’s latest installment of its Artist in Residence series, the photography of Ryan Hacker will be featured. The exhibit, “Discovering Architecture: A Visual Exploration of Our Built Environment,” is on display on the first floor of the library through May 31.

Hacker is an architectural designer who has worked on the engineering and construction team in the Facilities Management Department since 2012. A BFA graduate of Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston, Hacker has an extensive background in technical settings. Over the last four and a half years, he has built numerous clean room, laboratory and mechanical spaces, as well as office-zoned occupancies. He was designer/coordinator for the lab fit-ups at the Albert Sherman Center in 2012 and 2013. Currently, he is working on the new 22,000-square-foot New England Newborn Screening Program laboratory and headquarters, serving as principal draftsmen and assistant project manager for construction.

In his free time, Hacker enjoys taking photos of his travels throughout New England and community service. He is treasurer and director of Support Our Fine Arts, Inc., (SOFA) a 501c3 non-profit that supports and promotes public arts education in Worcester and also serves as a municipal election warden and Massachusetts notary public.
