Worcester Public Schools Book Drive runs through mid-May

UMass Medical School is once again participating in the “Worcester: the City that Reads Book Drive.” The annual book drive promotes literacy in the community, puts books into the hands of children who may not have books in their homes and promotes the importance of being a lifetime reader. More than 320,000 books have been collected and distributed to children in the Worcester community since the drive first started 10 years ago.

Collection bins for new and gently used books geared towards children in pre-kindergarten to grade 8 are located in the lobbies of the Medical School and the Lazare Research Building; on the second floor atrium of the Albert Sherman Center; at the South Street campus near the mailroom; in the MassBiologics café; and in the Schrafft Center reception area.

The book drive ends on May 15. For additional information, contact Glady McRell in the Office of Community and Government Relations at 508-856-4400.
