Anastasia Khvorova to speak at March Innovation Month Symposium

Anastasia Khvorova, PhD, professor of molecular medicine and biochemistry & molecular pharmacology at UMass Medical School, will be among the featured speakers at the March symposium of the Venture Forum, a Worcester non-profit organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurs launch and grow successful high-growth businesses. The program, co-hosted by Massachusetts Biotech Initiatives, will take place on Tuesday, March 8, from 5:45 to 8:30 p.m., at MBI headquarters at 60 Prescott St. in Worcester.

The March innovation month symposium will focus on women and entrepreneurial leadership and feature some of the most innovative women in life sciences, including Dr. Khvorova, as well as Yael Schwartz, PhD, a Massachusetts life science executive and serial entrepreneur with major achievements in pharmaceutical drug discovery and development; Lenore Rasmussen, PhD, a polymer chemist; and Tanja Dominko, PhD, founder of CellThera, Inc., which develops new strategies for treatment of degenerative diseases that do not rely on embryonic stem cells.

MBI is a private, independent economic development organization that serves as a catalyst for life science and health care innovation. The group helps to start biomedical companies and create jobs within the biotechnology, medical device, informatics and biomanufacturing industry by providing laboratory space and resources for seed stage companies.
