UMass Chan ‘priceless ally’ in the Ebola fight, according to Telegram op-ed

An editorial in the Worcester Telegram & Gazette lauds Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen for supporting efforts to stop the Ebola epidemic, and UMass Medical School for launching a relief initiative in Liberia, funded by the Allen Foundation.

“Among the most promising developments to date is a $100 million donation from Microsoft co-founder Paul G. Allen to support the effort to stop the Ebola epidemic,” the Oct. 26 editorial states. “Of that money, $7.5 million will be coming to the University of Massachusetts Medical School to assist in battling the crisis and, of equal importance, to rebuild the health care system in Liberia.

“The generosity exemplified by Mr. Allen, and the collective expertise to be found at places like UMass Medical School are truly priceless allies in the battle against Ebola.”
