Volunteers needed for United Way Day of Caring Sept. 10

UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial team up with United Way for annual Day of Caring

UWCM logoOn Wednesday, Sept. 10, UMass Medical School and UMass Memorial Health Care are teaming up with the United Way of Central Massachusetts for the 21st annual Day of Caring. The UMMS–UMass Memorial team will join other teams comprising 1,200 local volunteers who will fan out across Central Mass. to participate in one-day community service projects in support of more than 100 local non-profit agencies. Projects include restoration and repair; preservation and beautification; gardening or neighborhood cleanup; and recreation and social events with community interaction.

This year, the UMMS–UMass Memorial team will work at the Belmont Street Community School in Worcester, trimming shrubs and clearing brush around the perimeter of the school building that is overgrown and covering school signs.

If you would like to volunteer on Sept. 10 from 9 a.m. to noon, contact Glady McRell at gladys.mcrell@umassmed.edu. Volunteers are required to get the permission of their department managers. Volunteers will be provided with “live united” T-shirts.
