UMass Chan team takes top Road Bowl prize

The UMass Medical School Road Bowl team “iBAD” won the school challenge and took home the grand prize for the contest between all the colleges of the Worcester Consortium.

The team, comprising Rosane De Oliveira, Nelsy DePaula Tamburro, Kristen Halmen, Sanjay Ram and Stuart Levitz, totaled 3,653,609 steps, for an average of 28,105 steps per walker per day.

The team came up with their name, iBAD, based on their international makeup. The team consisted of members from India, Brazil, America and the Dominican Republic. The team said they could not be more proud of their team diversity and inclusion.

Nearly 400 UMMS community members took part in the challenge. The 87 UMMS walking teams averaged 8,824 steps daily over the four-week challenge.
