New year, new venue for Convocation Week activities

All are invited; events will be livestreamed on the web

maceThose anticipating the usual bustle of activity over the weekend as the giant Convocation tent is raised on the campus green may be surprised at the lack of action. The giant tent is not needed this year because all 2013 Convocation activities will take place inside the Albert Sherman Center, which has quickly become the most popular venue for hosting major events on campus. For those who can’t make it to the Sherman Center in person, all events will be live streamed on the web.

Besides the venue, the one major difference in this year’s activities is an expanded GSBS event, which includes a more formal acknowledgment of newly qualified PhD candidates. The ceremony will take place on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 4 p.m. in the Sherman Center First Floor Atrium.

The week begins with the Graduate School of Nursing’s Graduate Entry Program Pinning Ceremony on Monday, Sept. 16, and includes the second-annual LGBTA Welcome Luncheon on Tuesday, Sept. 17; Convocation and Investiture on Thursday, Sept. 19; and the White Coat Ceremony on Friday, Sept. 20.
