'Surprising story' of microRNA and Victor Ambros

Ambros and his work featured in Journal of Cell Biology’s 'People & Ideas'

While the Journal of Cell Biology publishes more than its share of scientific discoveries, one of its most popular features is “People & Ideas.” In the current issue, JCB interviews Victor Ambros, PhD, the Silverman Chair in Natural Sciences and professor of molecular medicine at UMMS.

“Once, we thought we understood all there was to know about how gene expression is regulated,” Dr. Ambros opens, then continues, “But then came a surprising story about a short RNA in C. elegans called lin-4 . . .”

In the interview, Ambros talks about his graduate training and early work in his laboratory, especially the importance of collaboration.
