Chancellor Collins honored at Emmanuel College

Chancellor Michael F. Collins was awarded an honorary degree from Emmanuel College on Saturday, May 11, during the school’s 2013 Commencement exercises.

“You have the ability to transform the human condition through simple acts of kindness, as you extend that love through the touch of your hand,” Dr. Collins told the Class of 2013. “It is an enormous privilege to be with you as you set out to change the world one hand at a time.”

Collins was recognized by the assembly for his “formidable contributions to public health,” as well as his commitment to others.

“You have been a source of professional and personal guidance to a generation of students and younger colleagues,” reads Collins’ honorary degree citation. “They speak often of how you took a heartfelt interest in them, inspired them to succeed and were there for them not once, but for life.”
