Fitness Center enrollment fee waived until April 30

Anyone interested in joining the new fitness center at the Albert Sherman Center (ASC) is reminded that the $29 enrollment fee will be waived only until April 30. Beginning on May 1, those who join will be assessed a one-time $29 fee in addition to the first month’s membership cost upon registration.

“We’ve had tremendous interest in the new center. And we hope people who are thinking about joining will remember to come over, check out the facility, and sign up before May 1 so they can save some money,” said Karen Neal, manager of the new center.

Located near the top of the grand staircase on the third floor of the ASC, the fitness center has locker rooms, showers, a large open exercise area and a separate studio for group classes. Fitness equipment includes eight treadmills, six elliptical machines, 14 strength stations, four stationary bikes, two rowing machines, free weights and a Synrgy 360 group training center.

Membership in the new fitness center is open to all UMass Medical School students, faculty and staff. Employees of UMass Memorial Medical Center who work on the University Campus are also eligible to join. The membership fee is $25 per month, with no long-term contract or commitment required.

The membership fee includes use of the exercise equipment, access to the showers and locker rooms. It also includes participation in most of the group exercise classes including yoga, Pilates, group cycling, core conditioning, boot camp and a running club. A Zumba class and personal training services are available for additional fees.

The center is open to members 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is staffed Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. For additional information contact: karen.neal@umassmed.edu.
