Clothing drive helps disadvantaged women dress for success

Professional Women’s Committee sponsoring collection and sale at South Street

In an initiative to help disadvantaged women who are entering or reentering the workforce, the Professional Women’s Committee (PWC) at UMass Medical School is sponsoring a clothing collection and a clothing sale, with all proceeds from both to benefit Dress for Success Worcester.

Dress for Success Worcester is the local affiliate of the national not-for-profit organization that provides a support network and career development tools, as well as professional attire to help women thrive in work and in life.

Workplace-appropriate garments that are classic and fashionable, in wearable condition, and no more than three to five years old are welcome. Hosiery and undergarments, shoes, jewelry and men’s clothing are notaccepted, but male colleagues are encouraged to bring in donations from the women in their lives.

Clothing donations can be dropped off next to the mailroom at the South Street Campus through Thursday, April 4. The sale of dresses, suits, blouses and slacks, all priced at ten dollars or less, will take place on Friday, April 5 in the Brazil Conference Room from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Contact Patricia Ryan for further details.
