Veterans receive turkeys and appreciation from volunteers

Chancellor Collins helps hand out Thanksgiving dinners at Veterans Inc.

Chancellor Michael F. Collins and his wife joined dozens of volunteers at the Veterans Inc. shelter in Worcester on Tuesday, handing out turkey dinners to hundreds of veterans. The Veterans Inc. Annual Holiday Harvest provides turkeys, stuffing, gravy, cranberries and vegetables to more than 400 families of veterans in the area.

“Our food bank served over 3,815 households providing meals to over 11,500 veterans and their family members last year and we are currently well on our way to exceed that number this year, ” said Denis Leary, Veterans Inc., executive director.

The event is sponsored in part by donations from the Worcester County Food Bank, Senator Michael Moore, Senator Harriette Chandler, Nam Knights and the Clinton American Legion.
