UMass Memorial pharmacy now open for all

With its new retail license, the UMass Memorial Prescription Center Pharmacy, located on the University Campus, can now fill prescriptions for anyone, including employees, students, faculty and staff of UMass Medical School.

The Prescription Center Pharmacy can now process prescriptions from any health care provider; previously, prescriptions were limited to UMass Memorial Medical Center physicians. UMMS staff, employees, residents, professors and students can now enjoy the convenience of picking up their prescriptions on site. The pharmacy will also begin stocking over-the-counter medications.

“For those at the Medical School, this change means they can use our convenient services at the same cost as using their neighborhood retail pharmacy. And we accept most insurance plans,” stated Kevin Miller, director of ambulatory pharmacy services at UMass Memorial Medical Center. “This is just the first step in our growth. Plans are under way to open another retail pharmacy on the Memorial Campus of the Medical Center in 2012 as well as to convert the Hahnemann Campus location to a retail pharmacy.”

The Prescription Center Pharmacy is located on the first floor of the University Campus near the cafeteria and provides a complete range of medications from routine prescriptions to specialty medications. In addition, a prescription refill service through the ScriptCenter kiosk, located near the pharmacy, is available 24 hours a day. The pharmacy is open weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and on weekends from noon to 8 p.m., and is closed on holidays. To learn more, call 508-421-1900.
