UMass Medical School was recognized by the state for marketing excellence in successfully promoting alternative travel options to employees and students. UMMS was one of four employers recognized for outstanding accomplishments at the Massachusetts Excellence in Commuter Options (ECO) Awards ceremony at the State House on Friday, April 1.
The state noted the effectiveness of the UMMS Sustainability Committee and the Growing Green newsletter, global e-mails and website as well as the Parking Office’s information desk that assists employees and visitors with parking questions.
In addition to the marketing effort, UMMS was praised for offering 200 staff vanpool and carpool spaces, a 100 percent bus pass subsidy, and bike racks, showers and changing rooms.
The ECO event was co-hosted by Massachusetts Department of Transportation through MassRIDES, the statewide travel options program, and MassCommute, the Massachusetts Coalition of Transportation Management Associations.
