The current bout of snow storms and frigid temperatures is affecting everyone, especially those in our community who are without adequate shelter, heat and warm clothing. Members of the UMass Medical School community have been responding to this need by donating cold-weather clothing items to the Warm Clothing Drive. Sponsored by the UMass Medical School’s Three Schools Committee, a student-run charitable service group, the drive will be accepting donations through Monday, Jan. 31.

Donation bins can be found on the Worcester campus at all entrances to the Medical School building, the entrance to the Lazare Research Building and at Biotech I, II, IV and V, and at the South Street campus in Shrewsbury. Recommended clothing items, which should be in good condition, include shirts, pants, sweaters, mittens, gloves, hats, scarves and coats. Donations will benefit Abby’s House, a nonprofit organization serving homeless and battered women and children in Worcester.
