Go behind the scenes of the Thanksgiving food drive

You’ve seen the cheerfully decorated Thanksgiving food drive donation boxes at multiple UMMS campuses. Perhaps you’ve even helped to fill them. But have you wondered where the donations go and how they get there? In this video, UMassMedNow goes behind-the-scenes with PhD students Eric Swanson and Carina Clingman, members of GSBS Cares, the Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences Community Service Committee, as they collect and deliver donations for this annual fund-raising event to benefit the Worcester County Food Bank.

As of Friday, Nov. 12, GSBS Cares has collected 925 pounds of food; the goal for this year’s drive is 2 tons. Donations will be collected until Wednesday, Nov. 24. For more information about the Food Drive, please contact GSBS co-chairs Jennifer Ziegenfuss (jennifer.ziegenfuss@umassmed.edu) or Carina Clingman (carina.clingman@umassmed.edu).
