Kristine Reinhard is the information literacy and special collections librarian in the Lamar Soutter Library. She has worked for UMass Medical School since 2005.
What do you love most about the work that you do?
The opportunity to interact with and assist library patrons, researchers and donors to the archives. I also enjoy being able to “show off” some of our special collections through the exhibits we create for the display window outside the library entrance.
What is the practical application of your work?
As information specialist I help library patrons navigate the library’s resources to find information. Another part of my job entails collecting, organizing and preserving materials that we receive from faculty, administrators and students. These materials help document the history and development of the institution from its earliest days.
Which trait do you most admire in yourself?
Describe yourself in six words or fewer.
Patient, kind, funny, compassionate, loyal, dedicated
If you were stranded on a deserted island, name three things you would want.
Besides food, water and sunscreen . . . pictures of my children, books and my iPod (with an infinite source of power)
What are some of your hobbies/interests outside of work?
Sewing, quilting, knitting, needlework, reading
What do you consider the most interesting thing about yourself that most people might not know (and you would want to tell them).
