Proteomic Mass Spectrometry Core Labs
Biomedical Applications of Mass Spectrometry
The availability of collaborative resources for the analysis of biological samples by sophisticated instrumental techniques is of immense value for the progress of many diverse biomedical research projects. It is the aim of Mr. Evans' laboratory to meet the mass spectrometry needs of neuroscientists at UMMS. This core Facility provides a high level of expertise and state of the art instrumentation. While the major emphasis of the Facility is on proteomics researchers from a wide variety of disciplines utilize the Facility for all types of mass spectrometry. It provides resources that make research initiatives possible that would otherwise be impossible to carry out. Mr. Evans applies his broad experience in mass spectrometry to solving problems in many biomedical areas including biochemistry, genetics, developmental biology, pharmacology, clinical medicine, physiology, and psychology. Current research in the Facility include development of MS methods for comparative proteomics and protein folding.
