MTG MTG was formerly Biomedical Media and Media Services. Although our name has changed, we continue to offer services that have been in demand at the University--large format printing, digital photography, and slide scanning.. As part of our re-emphasis on digital production we have enhanced services that are cost prohibitive externally--: digital video production. As an internal 'service bureau' we have the advantage of understanding your educational, research and clinical needs. We put these needs at the core of what we do and we take pride in the quality of our work. Location We are still located on B-Level--rooms HB-595 and HB-554. If you want to find out about any of our services, or have any questions feel free to drop by. |
Design In our studio we implement creative strategies to enhance the effective communication of ideas. How? - We create scientific, medical and corporate design for national and international conferences.
- We design booklets, brochures and flyers for your marketing and communication needs.
- We will redesign your current website within the Content Manager to enhance usability and "look and feel". (A web redesign: Graduate School of Nursing ).
- We can create and customize awards, certificates and promotional pieces including logos, displays, and signs .
- We design and print "Large Format" posters for national and international conferences.
We work closely with service bureaus, printers and act as a “creative partner” with Public Affairs. |
Large Format Posters
**** As of July 1, 2009 our poster prices have increased, due to the increase in ink and paper costs. We will be increasing poster prints to $10 per sq/ft on glossy paper, and $8 per sq/ft on Matte paper. Although we regret to increase our pricing for the first time in over four years we will continue to offer pricing and services that is considerably less expensive than our external competitors. *** UMASS LOGOS for poster design: available for download here With our HP Design Jet 800 we are able to print posters, banners, and large scale photographs. Whether created on a PC or Mac, we can print your file. File formats we process are:PowerPoint InDesign PageMaker Illustrator Photoshop.
If you are using PowerPoint to design your poster half-sizing the file is the surest road to success. This means half-sizing fonts as well. For example: if you want a 72 point font in your final poster; create it as a 36 point font. Sending your file in PDF format will also eliminate many font or embedded graphic issues. For additional resources download this PowerPoint presentation on Large Format Printing. Unfamiliar with creating a poster? We can also design it for you.
Please allow 2-3 full business days to print your poster. For poster design and printing allow 3-5 business days (depending on our queue). There is a printing restriction of 41 inches. If you have a horizontal poster maximum height is 41 inches. For a vertical poster the maximum width is 41 inches.

Stationery Orders The process is easy - order may be placed online. Visit the Purchasing Department Business Cards & Stationary web page for more information. |
Slides Please allow two full business days for turn around time. Scanning is among the many services we continue to provide, and remains a frequent request. Once scanned, we can put your slides in a Power Point Presentation, make Digital Archival Prints, send them via email, upload them to your website, or even burn a CD for you to keep for future use. |
Digital Archival Prints
Archival printing is an example of the enhanced digital services we now offer. We are able to make Photo Lab quality prints from our Fuji printer. These images are archival and will not fade--unlike prints from an ink jet printer. We are able to print jpeg, tiff, and PDF files. Your image files must have a dpi (dots per inch) of 267 dpi or higher. If you have a file that is less than 267 dpi, please call and ane we will advise you re: the best way to print your images. |
Custom Matting and Framing We no longer cut matte board or do custom framing. This was an infrequent request but it also reflects our shift toward digital multimedia. |
