Research and Teaching Interests
|
Jennifer Tjia, MD, MSCE, is an Associate Professor of Geriatric Medicine at UMass. She has completed fellowship training in health services research and earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr. Tjia’s research interests include geriatric health services research, pharmacoepidemiology and population-based clinical effectiveness studies. Her interests focus on optimizing the use of chronic prescription medication by older adults, particularly patient-centered prescribing at the end-of-life and in advanced dementia. She has been awarded a K08 Mentored Clinical Scientist Career Development Grant from the National Institute on Aging to study the health outcomes associated with differences in prescription drug coverage for older adults. She is principal investigator on a grant from ARHRQ "Optimizing Chronic Disease Prevention and Management in Advanced Dementia, and co-investigator on grants from AHRQ including “Improving Posthospital Medication Management of Older Adults through Health IT” & “Using HIT to Improve Transitions of Complex Elderly Patients from SNF to Home”, “Risk Informed Intervention to Improve Ambulatory Drug Monitoring and Safety”, and “Analytics and Research Data Support for Investigators of Safety and Comparative Effectiveness”.
