Research and Teaching Interests
|
Jennifer Tjia, M.D., M.S.C.E., is an Assistant Professor of Geriatric Medicine at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. She has completed fellowship training in health services research and earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Epidemiology. Dr. Tjia is the recipient of the 2003 Pfizer/American Geriatrics Society Junior Faculty Scholar Award for Research on Health Outcomes in Geriatrics, and was a finalist for both the Lipkin Award for Outstanding Research Paper by a Research Associate at the Society of General Internal Medicine and the Secretary's Award for Innovations in Health Promotion and Disease Prevention by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Her primary research focus is to investigate and develop methods to optimize the uptake and utilization of emerging pharmaceutical therapies by older adults. She is specifically interested in understanding the effect of state and federal prescription drug policies on elder health outcomes and health service utilization, and understanding the predictors of medication uptake and adherence among older adults. |
