Internal Medicine Residency Program

UMass Memorial offers fully accredited fellowships in all the major Medicine subspecialties. To provide additional guidance to residents interested in applying to fellowships, both at UMass Memorial or elsewhere, we have established a team consisting of senior faculty from each of the subspecialties. These faculty members are available to assist you in choosing a specific fellowship, recommendations on where and when to apply, provide help with the application process, and provide aid with references and letters of recommendation. The combination of this team with residents’ mentors, other faculty members, the Program Directors, and chief residents has resulted in an outstanding success rate for matching in fellowships.

Over the past 20 years, 90.1% of all UMass residents who applied received fellowships. About half remain at UMass Memorial, with the remainder matching in outstanding programs throughout the country, including University of Chicago, Johns Hopkins, UPenn, Duke, the Mayo Clinic, Brown, Washington University of St Louis, Northwestern, and the Boston programs (including MGH and BI). With regards to matching residents in the 2 most competitive fellowships, we average almost 4 residents per year matching in cardiology, and average over 2 residents a year matching in gastroenterology.

Our current class of 2014 had another outstanding match in June. Below are listed the fellowships and location for our current senior residents:
