Neural circuitry formation and plasticity in Drosophila brain

Tzumin Lee image Wiring of neural circuits involves establishment of stereotyped synaptic connections among distinct groups of neurons.  Furthermore, neural circuits are built with great plasticity, which allows for activity-dependent maturation of neural circuits as well as continuous modification of neuronal connections in adult nervous systems.  To elucidate how the brain develops and functions, we investigate the cellular/molecular mechanisms that govern formation and plasticity of neural circuits in the Drosophila brain.
