Fellowship Program
The Hematology/Oncology Fellowship Program at the University of Massachusetts Medical School is a three-year program that leads to board certification in Hematology and Oncology. Two fellows are selected each year through the National Residency Match Program (NRMP) and applications are submitted to the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS).
Program Goals
The UMass Hematology/Oncology fellowship seeks to develop tomorrow's leaders in the field and it prepares trainees for laboratory-, translational-, or clinical- based careers. The clinical training experience in the division is broad and rich. Fellows are engaged in the entire spectrum of healthcare as they participate in outpatient service, specialty clinics, inpatient consultation and service, stem cell transplantation, specialty clinics and a wide variety of elective experiences. The outstanding research environment at UMass provides opportunities in world - class laboratories for research and clinical and translational research.
The fellowship program uses the facilities and faculty of UMass and fellows provide service in outpatient care at the university campus as well as the Memorial campus in Worcester and the Health Alliance Hospital in Fitchburg. There is a full schedule of clinical educational and research conferences. Fellows, faculty and visiting faculty attend weekly Hematology/Oncology Grand Rounds, Medical Grand Rounds and a variety of specialty tumor boards.
Graduating fellows are equipped to pursue successful academic careers and the clinical practice of Hematology and Oncology.
