Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)

There are three track options to the Doctor of Nursing Practice Pathway:
GEP to DNP, BSN to DNP and the Post Master's.   Application dates for GEP to DNP is January 15th, BSN to DNP application date is March 15th and Post Master's application date is April 15th.  Applicants must submit a completed application to Nursing CAS by the deadline date to be considered for admission.  Application status emails will be sent to the email provided on the application via Nursing CAS.

Admission Criteria for GEP to DNP Track

  • Bachelor's Degree in a field other than nursing
  • Undergraduate GPA 3.0 or higher
  • Acceptable Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
  • Completed Application by deadline date

Admission Criteria BSN to DNP Track

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
  • Evidence of unrestricted Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse
  • Undergraduate GPA 3.0 or higher
  • CPR Certification for Health Providers (BLS) by the American Heart Association
  • Acceptable Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
  • Completed Application by deadline date

Admission Criteria Post Master's DNP Track

  • Master's Degree in Nursing
  • Evidence of unrestricted Massachusetts licensure as a registered nurse
  • Undergraduate GPA 3.0 or higher
  • CPR Certification for Health Providers (BLS) by the American Heart Association
  • Acceptable Graduate Record Exam (GRE)
  • Completed Application by deadline date

Requirements for Admission GEP to DNP Track

  • Completed Application submitted to Nursing CAS refer to Nursing CAS instructions.
  • Four letters of recommendation two academic references from a former faculty member,  one professional reference and one reference from someone that can evaluate your leadership potential must be submitted directly to Nursing CAS
  •  Resume uploaded to Nursing CAS
  • Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended sent directly to Nursing CAS. Students obtaining a degree in a Foreign Country must have transcripts evaluated by World Education Services (WES) prior to applying for admission.
  • Personal Statement uploaded to Nursing CAS refer to Nursing CAS instructionsfor essay requirement.
  • One example of scholarly writing (i.e., publication, scholarly paper)
  • Residency and capstone project focus congruent with faculty member;       
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) general test (submitted directly to the Graduate School of Nursing  from ETS (School Code 3947 Department code 0610)
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required from international students who have not earned a degree in a country where English is the primary language.
  • Complete Graduate School of Nursing checklist, submit directly to the Graduate School of Nursing. (PRINT CHECKLIST)
  • A notarized proof of residency (all applicants, both Massachusetts Residents and non-residents, must submit) (PRINT FORM)

Requirements for Admission BSN to DNP Track

  • Completed Application submitted to Nursing CAS refer to Nursing CAS instructions.
  • Four letters of recommendation are required from people with whom you have been in contact with in the last five years. Applicants must submit one letter of recommendation from a former faculty member, one professional letter of reference, one letter of reference from a professional nurse who has been recently responsible for evaluating your professional nursing practice and  one reference from someone that can evaluate your leadership potential must be submitted directly to Nursing CAS

Requirements for Admission Post Masters DNP Track

  • Completed Application submitted to Nursing CAS refer to Nursing CAS instructions.
  • Three letters of recommendation are required from people with whom you have been in contact with in the last five years. A letter of recommendation from a recent supervisor who can evaluate APN employment experience, an academic reference and a nurse who can evaluate your leadership potential as an APN with a DNP must be submitted directly to Nursing CAS.
  • Resume uploaded to Nursing CAS
  • Transcripts from all colleges and universities attended sent directly to Nursing CAS. Students obtaining a degree in a Foreign Country must have transcripts evaluated by World Education Services (WES) prior to applying for admission.
  • Personal Statement uploaded to Nursing CAS refer to Nursing CAS instructionsfor essay requirement.
  • One example of scholarly writing (i.e., publication, scholarly paper)
  • Residency and capstone project focus congruent with faculty member;       
  • Professional APN Portfolio that demonstrates attainment of NONPF or AONE competencies
  • Graduate Record Exam (GRE) general test (submitted directly to the Graduate School of Nursing  from ETS (School Code 3947 Department code 0610)
  • Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required from international students who have not earned a degree in a country where English is the primary language.
  • Complete Graduate School of Nursing checklist, submit directly to the Graduate School of Nursing. (PRINT CHECKLIST)
  • A notarized proof of residency (all applicants, both Massachusetts Residents and non-residents, must submit) (PRINT FORM)
